Greece- Torch Relay Race
-
This is a relay race. Students line up in 4 teams. The first student from each team will stand on a poly dot. Give these four students a "torch"- a plunger with a “softee” ball on the top. On the signal to begin, the four students will run around the cone and back. They will hand the torch to the next student in line who will then run around the cone and back. This will continue as above until all team members have had a turn.
-
Denmark- Disc Throw
-
Students are lined up in 4 teams with the first student on a poly dot. Hula hoops are hanging from a pole some distance away. Each student has 3 chances to throw the disc (Frisbee) through the hula hoop. After 3 attempts, the student recovers the Frisbee and passes it to the next student in line. This will continue until all team members have had a turn. If time permits, move the students back and throw the discs from a farther distance.
Canada- Dog Sled Races
The class will be divided into 3 teams. One student from each team will sit in their sled at the starting line. Two or more students will pull the sled down the field, around the cone and back to the finish line. If the student falls off the sled, they have to start over. Each member of their team will have a chance to ride the sled.

UNITED STATES- HAWAIIAN LIMBO Choose 2 people to hold the limbo stick or use a limbo stand, and then ask everyone else to line up single file behind the limbo stick. Everyone in line must then go under the stick by walking forward and bending backward under the stick. If someone touches the stick, they are out. Once everyone has had a turn going under the limbo stick, start again by lowering the stick about 6 inches. Continue lowering the stick each round until there is only one player that can make it under the stick. If everyone gets out in a round, start that round again until one person can make it under successfully.
-
Variations of Limbo: Instead of walking forwards, try walking backwards, or make them go under sideways.
-
SPAIN- SOCCER SMASH
-
Students line up in 2-4 teams with the first person on each team standing on a poly dot. On the signal to begin the first 2-4 students in line dribble the ball in and out of cones until they reach the last cone and stop. Here they have 3 “penalty” kicks to kick the ball into the net. After the ball is in the net or the player has kicked 3 times, the student picks up the ball and runs it back to the next player in line. This will continue until all team members have had a turn. The first team to complete the task is the winning team.

Japan- Chopstick Relay
-
Students line up in 4 teams with the first person from each team standing on a poly spot. Give the first student in line two "chopsticks" (rhythm sticks). On the signal to begin, the first student will pick up the rubber chicken from inside the hoop using only the chopsticks. (They may not use their hands.) They will have to drop the chicken down to their stir fry pan, then run back and hand the “chopsticks” to the next student in line, who then goes to the pan and must bring the chicken back to the group and the process continues until everyone has had a turn. The first team to complete the task is the winner.
Brazil- Fish Toss
-
One student stands on one side of the field with the net. Another student stands opposite them with a fish. One student tosses the fish underhand, and the other tries to catch it in the net. After each completed catch the students move back to a designated spot to increase difficulty. Once they miss two consecutive catches, they are out. The last team up on the farthest spot is the winner. If time permits, start the activity again, but this time have the fish thrower's back turned toward the fish catcher' back.
Australia - Water down under
SPONGE RACE – 4 teams line up with the first child in front of a water bucket. Each child must soak their sponge into the bucket of water. Then they run to a table with an empty pitcher and fill it by squeezing the water from the sponge into the pitcher. The sponge is passed to the next child in line. After every child has had a turn, the team with the most water wins. This race will be at the same station number as the Splash Throw.
SPLASH THROW - 4 teams line up with the first child in front of the bucket of water. Each child has 3 splash balls to soak in the bucke,t and then throw for distance. The longest throw is recognized. Balls are recovered by the child and passed to the next child in line. This is not a competition, just an opportunity for each child to try his/ her best throw. The throws must be overhand. Space kids far enough apart so they throw in separate areas.

Jamaica- Javelin Throw
-
This is a relay race. Students line up into 4 teams. The first 4 students stand behind the line. They will hand the javelin (a fun noodle) to the next person in line, and they will then attempt to throw the javelin. The students will only get 3 attempts to make it through the hoop. If they do not make it before or on their third attempt, they will hand the javelin to the next student in line. They will continue as above until all team member have had a turn.
