Trash Bash 2013

On Saturday April 20, 2013 the City of Melbourne held a Keep Brevard Beautiful Trash Bash. Ascension Catholic School was one of many local schools that participated in this wonderful event. Some teachers and students were among the forty-one volunteers that came to help out.  Due to construction at our school this year, we hosted this event at a nearby Community College-Brevard Community College. The event was held from 8am-12pm.

The City of Melbourne provides all the materials necessary to make this event happen- Safety vest, t-shirts, trash grippers, gloves, trash bags, trash bags with red strings for recycable items, signs, clipboards, pens and flyers announcing the event to post around our school. They also provide apples, bananas, granola bars and bottled water. Cripsy Creme Donuts provided plenty of donuts for everyone enjoy. The volunteers helped pick up trash on the college campus and a one mile area the included Wickham Rd, Post Rd, Croton Rd, and Parkway Rd. The weather was a little cool and we had some sprinkles but the volunteers still managed to collected eleven bags of trash and five bags of recycable trash. Each participate received a T-shirt from the City of Melbourne.
