Since the beginning of the school year, our school has been striving to earn our Green Ribbon School cornerstone badges for the year. The following is a small outline of a few projects we have lined up for this school year! We know that with hard work and dedication, all of these plans (and more) will be accomplished!
CORNERSTONE: Eco-Campus (Energy, Water, Transportation, Pollution, Recycle/Waste, Green Spaces)
-What activity(s) do you have planned? Winfree Watt Watchers
-What is the purpose of the activity? To conserve energy and save electricity
-Who will be involved in the activity? The ENTIRE school!
-How will the activity be recorded (video, photos, etc.)? Photos. comparison graphs of school's energy bill vs last year
-What is the budget for your activity? N/A
-When will the activity occur? All year long
CORNERSTONE: Nature Adventure (Exploration & Play, Outdoor Skills, Nature Spaces)
-What activity(s) do you have planned? Open Air Classrooms
-What is the purpose of the activity? To allow students to be able to explore nature in conjunctions with doing schoolwork
-Who will be involved in the activity? Science, Liberal Arts and Math Dept. students
-How will the activity be recorded (video, photos, etc.)? Photos
-What is the budget for your activity? N/A
-When will the activity occur? Mid Spring Semester
CORNERSTONE: Health & Fitness (Health Education, Nutrition & Healthy Eating, Healthy Lifestyles, Fitness & Physical Education)
-What activity(s) do you have planned? Annual Blood Drives and Monthly Snack Options
- What is the purpose of the activity? To allow students the opportunity to get mini health screenings during blood drives (cholesterol, bp, etc) and to have the opportunity to buy healthier snacks versus vending machine options.
-Who will be involved in the activity? The entire campus and StuCo
-How will the activity be recorded (video, photos, etc.)? Photos
-What is the budget for your activity? N/A, abt $40/mth
-When will the activity occur? Bloods drives - 3 per year, Snack Options monthly
CORNERSTONE: Natural Classrooms (Field Investigation, Stewardship, Professional Development & Leadership, Nature Curricula)
- What activity(s) do you have planned? Campus Beautification
- What is the purpose of the activity? To make our campus more visually stimulating by adding plants, trees and maintaining green spaces.
- Who will be involved in the activity? Student Council, Colton Cullum - Eagle Scout Candidate
- How will the activity be recorded (video, photos, etc.)? Video, photos
- What is the budget for your activity? $100
- When will the activity occur? Spring 2012
