HEALTH LESSON
The immune system, which is made up of special cells, proteins, tissues,
and organs, that protect people from germs and getting ill every day.
In most cases, the immune system does a good job of keeping us
healthy and safe from infections. But sometimes there are problems with the
immune system that can lead to you being sick and getting infected.
The immune system is the body's protection system against infectious organisms
and other invaders.
Through a series of steps called the immune response,
the immune system attacks organisms and
substances that invade body systems
and cause disease.
STORY
Steven was sucked in to his immune system and is a white cell having to battle a bunch of bacteria. Along the way he will find white cells and use them to help him fight the bacteria and little microorganims that are infecting his body.
OBJECTIVE
We wanted everybody to know how our immune system works and how it helps us in everyday life.
LEARNINGS
We learned about the different types of bacteria or microrganisms that infect our body everyday. We also learned about different components of the immune system we never knew we had. As we learned about those different components we found that there were two different types of white blood cells.
