Compost is made out of biodegraded food, plants, sawdust, and things like that. Compost is a community for many living invertebrates, such as worms and bacteria, as well as fungi.

The process of biodegrading will happen over time by its self. Though it will take less time if you put it in a compost bin and turn the compost with a pitchfork. The three primary things that will affect the speed at which the composting process occurs are oxygen, water, and the temperature outside. The organic microbes can only break down organic molecules dissolved in water. If the compost is to wet if will cause the microbes to not be able to get oxygen, and the nutrients will leak out of the compost.
The ideal temperature for compost is 55 – 60 degrees Celsius (130 – 140 degrees Faranheight).
